Sicamous' location in the Eagle Valley at the divide of Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake makes it a hub of outdoor recreational activities.
Winter transforms the Eagle Valley into an endless snowmobiling playground. In May, it is even possible to go boating, play a round of golf, and snowmobile within the same day.
Water Activities
Houseboating is a major seasonal activity in Sicamous. Motor a floating cottage into Mara Lake, or explore the 1,000km/621mi shoreline of Shuswap Lake. Launch a boat from one of the two public launches for a day of tubing, wakeboarding, and water-skiing; picnic in a secluded cove or stop for lunch at a floating restaurant in Cinnemousun Narrows. Lounge on the sand in Beach Park, and swim in the warm waters of Mara and Shuswap lakes.
Canoe or kayak Eagle River and Mara Lake, or cast a line and fish for trout up to 10kg/22lb, or any of the 19 species found in Shuswap Lake. Rent a canoe, kayak, ski boat, personal watercraft, patio boat, pedal boat, water skis, and wakeboard, at several locations in Sicamous.
Hiking and Mountain Biking
Trails for hiking and mountain biking abound in and around Sicamous. Walk level nature trails at Yard Creek Provincial Park or along the river delta off Silver Sands Road. Hike a cedar-lined trail to view Sicamous Falls, or head to the Larch Hills and the Monashee Mountains for easy-to-challenging outings on forest trails, logging roads, and cross-country ski trails. Expect great views and lots of wildflowers in spring and summer.
Golf
Tee up for a round of golf at Hyde Mountain's 6,800yd, par 72 championship course. The course challenges golfers with big elevation shifts and cliffside shots, but rewards with striking views of Mara Lake. For another golfing option, drive straight and putt true to master the 9-hole Eagle River Golf course.
Winter Activities
Mount up for exceptional snowmobiling in four separate areas around Sicamous. Terrain in the Monashee Mountains suits every skill level from beginner to extreme, while high elevation and deep powder ensure good sledding conditions into late spring. Cross-country skiers can tackle the trials in the Larch Hills west of the village.
Attractions
Sicamous is the gateway to a host of family fun attractions in the Eagle Valley, east of the village along the Trans-Canada Highway. View the Crazy Creek Waterfalls from a swaying suspension bridge high above, visit a neighbourhood of miniature villages at Beardale Minatureland, climb aboard a caboose at Craigellachie, or meet some forest dwelling characters and zipline through the treetops at the Enchanted Forest and Sky Trek Adventure Park.
