Skiing & Snowboarding
Skiing (Canadian Tourism Commission photo)
Looking for snow and the proverbial winter wonderland? Rossland certainly fits that bill.
Its high elevation affords a reliable (and typically epic) snowfall each winter, and the community's close proximity to Red Mountain Resort's 88 runs means that skiers and snowboarders will find plenty of powder to enjoy here.
Red Mountain Resort (known locally as "Red"), is just a two-minute drive from town, and is home to the Canadian Open Freeskiing Championships and the Red Line Snowboard Challenge. The resort's two mountains, Red and Granite (the bigger of the two), boast 890m/2,919ft of vertical across 682ha/1,685ac of terrain. A further 1,012ha/2,500ac of backcountry territory also awaits.
Family, Advanced and Expert Runs
Red's great for the family – there are groomed beginner and intermediate runs, a ski/snowboard terrain park, rentals, lessons and plenty of winter activities such as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on offer.

RED Mountain is the last great, unspoiled resort. Located in Rossland, BC, along the famous "Powder Highway," RED delivers 4,200 acres of pristine skiing unfettered by overdevelopment. For 2013-14, we've added nearly 1,000 acres of mostly-intermediate terrain on Grey Mountain, an entirely new peak.
With 300"/7.6m of annual snowfall, wide-open groomed runs, epic vertical (890m!), in-bounds cat-skiing, 360 degree descents off select peaks, a rich tradition, and the best tree runs in BC, it's no wonder The NY Times voted us their #8 "Best Place in the World to Visit in 2013." RED's other recent accolades include #1 in Powder Magazine's "Ski Town Throwdown (2012)," and "Most Underrated Resort" by Skiing Magazine (2012). Come and enjoy fresh turns that you don't have to fight for
