When it comes to cycling, Richmond is Metro Vancouver's answer to the Netherlands. This largely flat, dyke-protected community offers an 80km/50mi network of bike routes, walkways and dyke trails that is sure to keep cyclists entertained and exhilarated. Fresh air, river and ocean views, and mountains looming to the north add to the experience.

Best Cycling Spots

Whiz along Dyke Road on the south arm of the Fraser River, passing the London Heritage Farm en route to the historic fishing village of Steveston. Check out the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, a National Historic Site, before cycling north along Dyke Byke Path with views overlooking Sturgeon Bank. Those who've made it this far might even head over to Sea Island, the home of McDonald Beach Park and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The possibilities are virtually endless.
