RED Mountain Resort is an ideal headquarters for hiking in the Rossland  area.

Numerous trailheads begin right on Red Mountain and extend into the local mountain range. Many also lead to spectacular views of the Valhalla Mountains and Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, as well as the states of Washington and Idaho.

Hikers will discover the rich mining history of the area as they pass old, abandoned mines along some of the trails. Routes range from newly created paths to old horse trails once used to pack in supplies to a meteorological station used in 1950s and 1960s. Guided hikes are available from outfitters based in the region.

Recommended Trails

Centennial Trail (Easy): One of the most popular hikes in Rossland, this multi-use trail links the town with the base of the Red Mountain ski area.
