Desolation Sound Marine Park
Desolation Sound Marine Park is one of the most popular destinations for Powell River visitors. Located north of the city, where Malaspina Inlet meets Hornfray Channel, the marine park encompasses 8,449ha/14,000ac. In surprisingly warm waters, scuba dive to see octopi and sea cucumbers. Take a guided kayaking tour out of nearby Lund. Or go beachcombing, and then venture beyond the tree-laden shoreline to marvel at area lakes and waterfalls.

Inland Lake Provincial Park
For families with young children or individuals with disabilities, Inland Lake Provincial Park makes an ideal day trip. Scenically sheltered, Inland Lake is ringed by a 13km/8.5mi trail that is fully wheelchair-accessible and involves minimal climbs. Canoeing, cycling, and trout fishing are other options. There are 22 vehicle-accessible campsites.
Haywire Bay Regional Park
Haywire Bay Regional Park is adjacent to Inland Lake Provincial Park, and offers easy access to the extensive, sparkling waters of Powell Lake. Hop in the water and swim over to nearby Honeymoon Island, which has 12 waterfront campsites to go with the other 33 RV/tent sites on the mainland. Have a picnic by the shore, or let the kids loose at the playground. A boat launch, showers, and washrooms are among the other amenities.
Willingdon Beach Park
Willingdon Beach Park, a popular municipal park is right on the Powell River waterfront. Oceanside camping is available all year round The short forested Willingdon Beach Trail showcases old logging equipment along with traces of historic First Nations activity, from culturally modified trees to shell middens.
Savary and Texada Islands
Lovers of the great outdoors shouldn't overlook Savary Island and Texada Island, just off the upper Sunshine Coast in the Strait of Georgia. Savary Island, accessible by water taxi or kayak, is noted for its stunningly white beaches and unique ecosystem, including the world's biggest arbutus tree.
The much larger Texada Island, a 35-minute ferry ride from Powell River's Westview terminal, is home to spectacular lookout points like Mount Shepherd and Mount Pocahontas. It also boasts South Texada Island Provincial Park, where visitors can enjoy tidal fishing with a license or spot black-tailed deer.

This park is a yachter's paradise at the confluence of Malaspina Inlet & Homfray Channel with more than 60 km of shoreline, several islands, numerous small bays & snug coves. The forested upland offers trails & wilderness tent sites. It is a great location for power boating as well as sailing.
