Cyclists will give their low gears a workout while navigating the hilly terrain on North Pender.

Bedwell Harbour Road can be busy near the Driftwood Centre, but minimal traffic on many parts of North Pender and across South Pender in particular makes for good riding conditions. Rent bikes at the Otter Bay Marina and Poets Cove Resort & Spa (which also offers early morning guided trips).

Tour De Pender

Richard Fox's readily available (if rather hefty for a pannier) The Pender Islands Handbook provides exhaustive details for a variety of routes. His all-inclusive "Tour de Pender" is a 43km/26mi trek that begins at the Otter Bay ferry terminal. It winds past the Southridge Farms Country Store (an excellent stop for barista coffee), heads out to Hope Bay and then races by Prior Centennial Park across the bridge onto South Pender for a trip to its far eastern tip at Gowlland Point. Retrace the itinerary backwards and the result is a full summer's day outing.
