Located within a 25-minute drive of Whistler's golfing options, crowds are minimal, tee-off times can be easier to secure and invariably, the weather is warmer.
The Meadows at Pemberton
The 18-hole, par 72 resort-style Meadows at Pemberton golf course sits at the foot of snow-capped Mt Currie, offering excellent bent grass greens with distinctly different layouts for both the front and back nine holes. The front nine, referred to as ‘the meadows' is a challenging wide-open game with two par 3s and a signature eight hole island green.
Meadows Rentals & Dining
The forested back nine is a tighter, more challenging game that can surprise even the most seasoned golfer. The Black Squirrel Restaurant & Pub is an exceptional 19th hole for refreshments after a game and is a non-golfer destination for lunch and dinner. Big Sky Golf & Country Club
Big Sky Golf & Country Club keeps ranking up kudos: most recently as "Best Course of BC" (Vancouver Sun) and in Golf Digest's "Top 10 Places to Play." The Bob Cupp designed, award-winning course stretches from 4,763m/5,209 yards to 6,401m/7,00l yards through 77ha/190ac of spectacular scenery. It features four sets of bent grass tee boxes, Ravensdale sand bunkers and some whimsical, rather intriguing, metallic sculptures.
Big Sky's Heli-Hole
It also has the only 9-hole Academy course in the Sea to Sky Corridor – a championship layout that's ideal that's perfect for the low handicapper looking for an iron play and short game tune-up. Fescues Restaurant has a terrific patio covered with vines; it overlooks a large lily pond, behind which are rolling fairways and mountain panoramas. Check out Big Sky's mile-high Heli-hole that puts putters and drivers atop Mt Currie.
Golfing at Whistler
As one of the few golf courses to bear the Jack Nicklaus name, Nicklaus North Golf Course is a 6,316m/6,908yd, par 71, 18-hole course that winds along a gentle valley floor. These mountainous landscapes also inspired Arnold Palmer to create The Whistler Golf Club's 18 sprawling fairways over 6,146m/6,722yds that curve around nine lakes and in between towering stands of cedar.
Look to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club for another big golf name – Robert Trent Jones Jr designed this classic 6,067m/6,635yd golf course at Blackcomb Mountain, with an elevation change of over 152m/400ft and dramatic views of Whistler Valley. All are award-winning, championship courses.
