Morningstar Championship Golf Course (525 Lowry's Road, north of town in French Creek) is a five-star championship course routinely used for top-calibre amateur and professional tournaments. Sand isn't only found on local beaches. Fairwinds Golf Club (3730 Fairwinds Drive, in Nanoose Bay), with 70-plus bunkers scattered across 18 challenging holes, is an award-winning (1999 BCPGA Facility of the Year) course, and a serious test for nerves and sand wedges. Private and group lessons are available, and the oceanfront layout guarantees refreshing breezes on the hottest summer days.

Parksville Miniature Golf
Another 72 holes – albeit much shorter ones – are found in Parksville, within a chip shot of Highway 19A. Riptide Lagoon on Resort Drive near Rathtrevor Beach has two 18-hole layouts. Two more can be found at Paradise Fun Park, a family amusement zone just west of downtown that also features a kid-friendly bumper boat ride. Both facilities invoke laughs and merriment as the courses wind past and through caves, windmills, water wheels, pirate ships, churches and, at Paradise Fun Park, a giant storybook boot that local residents have voted as one of the region's "seven wonders."
