Golf during Northern BC's incredibly long summer days. A unique feature of northern summers is daylight until 11pm or later, so tee-off times of 7pm are not unusual here.
Wildlife sightings are also common; bears, moose, deer, elk, eagles and marmots often share the course with golfers. Golf courses in Northern BC will challenge novice players and experts alike.
Prince George Golf Courses
A must-play golf course in Northern BC is the Aberdeen Glen Golf Club in Prince George. Twice nominated as the BCPGA facility of the year, this 7114-yard, par 73 course features a signature 18th hole that begins with a tee-off from a cliff-top towards the clubhouse below.
The city is also home to the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, which has generous, rolling fairways and challenging greens, and Aspen Grove Golf Course, a quiet, tranquil course that challenges golfers and has water coming into play on 10 of its 18 holes.

Golf with Mountain Views
The Skeena Valley Golf & Country Club (near Terrace) and the Smithers Golf & Country Club offer forested fairways and mountain and glacier views as far as the eye can see.
The tree- and creek-lined fairways of the Centennial Golf Course in Prince Rupert make for challenging games requiring strategic approach shots. Wildlife sightings are the rule rather than the exception here.
The Hirsh Creek Golf & Winter Club in Kitimat offers one of the most scenic layouts in the region. Watch out for the club's mascot, the fox – a notorious ball thief!
Golf Along the Alaska Highway
The deceptively challenging Dawson Creek Golf & Country Club is located at near the start of the Alaska Highway. At 6,306 yards, it is a short course, but it has many demanding tee shots and is reputed to have the toughest par 3 in the Peace Region.
Farther north, visit the Lone Wolf Golf Club in Taylor. Nestled in a valley, this beautiful par 72 championship course is one of the area's hidden gems. Keep a lookout for wildlife, and beware of the 86 sand bunkers.
Lakepoint Golf & Country Club is situated along the picturesque shores of Charlie Lake, 10km/6mi north of Fort St. John. Well-manicured fairways and some of the best greens in the northeast make this course a treat to play.
