In 2013, we are celebrating the 150th anniversary of John Giscome's arrival at Lhedesti, later known as the Giscome Portage! This is a multi-cultural event, featuring Jamaican, Caribbean, and First Nations dishes, as well as music and demonstrations. Learn about the history of the trail through the centuries, take a guided tour of the Portage, and visit the Salmon Valley Post Office in the upper parking lot to learn about the geography and plants on the trail. Be sure to stop into the General Store for our season-end sale, and buy some vegetables from our garden!

This annual event kicks off with the Lighting of the Christmas Trees at the Court House on Friday evening.

Local choirs & musicians sing carols while everyone munches on cookies & candy canes, washed down with hot chocolate, all supplied free by local sponsors.

Saturday's a special day for the children, starting with a traditional pancake breakfast with Santa & followed by the downtown Santa Parade.

Saturday evening's Sailpast sees festively decorated commercial & pleasure boats parading their vessels up & down the harbour playing Christmas music.

Hot chocolate, apple cider & cookies are free in keeping with the spirit of the season.
