The coolest summer event is the Mile 0 Summer Cruise. Each year Dawson Creek's Mile 0 downtown section is blocked off to hold a show and shine of 250+ rides from all over the Peace River District and guests from all over BC and Alberta or further.

Shaping up to be the largest cruise to date, the 20th anniversary of Summer Cruise will feature prizes (383 Chev stroker Engine, set of 4 wheels and tires, a vacation voucher and cash), food (A great Steak BBQ Banquet for Participants), cool rides from all over the Peace Country and beyond.

2 hours south of Whitehorse, in the very northwest corner of BC, an historic gold-rush town swells from 400 people to 2,500 for 3 three days of the year, as the picturesque town of Atlin holds its annual arts and music festival.

The musical lineup is always diverse, and has included Inuit throat singers, jazz, First Nations singers, traditional Quebecois music, bluegrass, zydeco, blues, folk, gospel, world-tech funk & even heavy metal. Poets, dancers, storytellers, filmmakers & visual artists are a major feature of the weekend's festivities. This diversity of artistic presentations makes Atlin stand out from a multitude of music festivals.

See the Canadian West through the artwork of R.D. Symons at the Fort St. John North Peace Museum from June 2 through September 24, 2014.

Symons was an artist, writer and naturalist. Born in England in 1898, he immigrated to Canada in 1914, to be a cowboy on a ranch in Saskatchewan.

He lived near Fort St. John from 1943 to 1961 first as a game warden and then as a rancher. He painted, worked with horses, wrote books, and was an advocate for conserving nature.

This exhibition was curated by Heather Smith of the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery.
