Tons of great prizes - both adult & junior categories - and you don't have to catch a fish to be a winner! Lots of door prizes & a silent auction as well. Food concession available. As the derby falls on the Family Fishing BC weekend, no fishing license is required but all fishing regulations are in effect. Derby tickets are available at Marg's Mini-Mart or at the boat launch from 5 am on Derby Day. Weigh in at 3 pm at boat launch.

This is the event for dog lovers! Bring your pup out to show him off in the parade of breeds, and enter your pooch in contests for biggest dog, smallest dog, best dressed and best trick. Watch obedience and agility demonstrations, talk to pet organizations, and shop the vendors while you let your pup socialize with others.

11:00 am Canada Day Parade, with cake & refreshments to follow at the Rec Centre. Public Swim from 10:00 am-4:00 pm; free if you can prove you are Canadian. At the Rec Centre, enjoy family activities from 12:30 pm-2:00 pm, followed by fireworks at Rotary Park at dusk.

The festivities start with a breakfast followed by a parade, an opening ceremony & cake cutting. Afternoon events include go-cart races, food booths, local entertainment, artisan displays & craft sales. A Canada Day birthday cake will be served.

A picnic in the park to celebrate Canada's 146th birthday!

Canada Day celebrations in Prince Rupert are held annually in Mariner's Park to celebrate Canada's birthday. On July 1st, locals and visitors gather at Mariner's Memorial Park on 1st Ave E and McBride St. Ethnic foods, live music, and other entertainment that represent Canada's cultural mosaic are enjoyed on this day. Birthday cake is served by the Mayor and other local VIP's to anyone who wants a taste of sweetness. The day culminates with fireworks over the harbour that light up the summer sky upon dusk.
