Transportation & Maps
New Westminster is located 20 km (12.5 mi) east of downtown Vancouver. By car or the SkyTrain rapid transit link, it takes less than 30 minutes to get to New Westminster from downtown Vancouver.
Visitors coming from the United States by car can follow Highway 99 (the Interstate 5 in the US) to the Highway 91 exit heading north, cross the Alex Fraser Bridge and stay on the right heading into New Westminster.
Rental cars and taxi transportation to New Westminster are available from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in Richmond. There are also several major car rental agencies within the city itself. Walking or biking is also an option, but visitors should be aware of the hilly terrain.
Trains and Buses
Trains and Greyhound buses arrive at the Pacific Central Station (1150 Station St.) in downtown Vancouver. To travel to New Westminster from there, transfer to a taxi, or board the SkyTrain at the adjacent Main Street-Science World station.
If arriving at the BC Ferries terminal at Tsawwassen, drivers can follow Highway 17 to the Highway 99 North exit ("Richmond/Vancouver") and then take the Highway 91A North exit ("Annacis Island/New Westminster").
Some of the best ways to get to and around New Westminster include buses, Skytrain, taxis, and rental cars.
