New Denver in the Slocan Valley is marked by a varied geography of mountain terrain and glacier-fed waterways.

The area is excellent for a number of outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, camping, kayaking, fishing, and wilderness and wildlife viewing. This natural lure is augmented by a rich culture and history, which can be experienced at a number of historic and heritage sites.

Land Activities

Hike or cycle the former railway lines of the Galena Trail and Slocan Valley Trail. Hiking opportunities also extend into provincial parks and other wilderness areas.

Pick up the New Denver Historical Society brochure and enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the village. Check out local history at the Silverton Mining Museum, which features an extensive collection of vintage mining equipment, or at the New Denver Museum. Venture out west of New Denver to the historic ghost town of Sandon, once a hub of action during the silver mining boom.
