Naramata was founded in 1907 as a haven for gentlemen fruit farmers.

Developer JM Robinson knew the sunny western facing slopes, fertile soil and available water would make ideal conditions for growing soft fruits like cherries and peaches along with the apples and pears that were already flourishing farther north in the valley.

Orchards to Vineyards

For generations, spring saw the hillsides from Naramata to Penticton burst into exuberant bloom. The face of farming has changed over recent years with many orchards giving way to the vineyards of the Naramata Bench wine region, but the earth's abundance remains undiminished.

Farm Fresh

Drive along Naramata Road and keep an eye open for farm-gate produce. The harvest begins in mid-July when apricots ripen and lasts through the succession of cherries, peaches, pears, plums and apples to mid-October.

Our family has been farming along the east shore of Skaha Lake for over 60 years. We grow 15 varieties of apples, 7 varieties of peaches along with plums, pears, table grapes, raspberries, tomatoes, corn and much more. Fruit is picked fresh daily and sold direct from the farm. More than your average fruit stand, it is constructed of straw bales, stucco and reclaimed wood. Matheson Creek Farm is truly a perfect place to experience some of the freshest fruit you will ever have.
