The Bowen Road Farmers' Market is in its 7th year! It was started by a group of people concerned about our ever quickly changing world, the loss of rurality, food production, food sustainability & the connection to the earth. Ours is a fun & vibrant market. Weekly we feature musicians & of course a wide variety of friendly vendors & excellent products produced by organic growers who transport their food within a 80 km (50 mi) radius. Come to the Bowen Road Farmers' Market & meet the person who grows & produces the food you eat. See you soon!

Recognized as Nanaimo's most spectacular summer festival, the Save On Foods Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival will be a true celebration of our diverse and beautiful city, attracting over 30,000 people and more than 80 dragon boat teams from across North America. Admission is free to the general public. Come down to the waters of Nanaimo Harbour and celebrate with us!

The Annual Nanaimo Toy Run will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013. This event in support of the children of Greater Nanaimo is open to all riders & supporters. The ride will start at the Cedar Community Hall and proceed through downtown Nanaimo ending at Beban Park. At Beban Park the events are open to everyone including: bike games, live bands, beer gardens, Show & Shine, food and merchandise vendors, prizes for competitors, children's events and more! Riders are reminded to bring a new unwrapped toy for the ride.

"Brits on the Beach" is the Central Island Branch's greatest car show of the year. In 2012 we had over 200 British cars participating from all over BC & beyond. Participants bring their cars from the North Island, South Island, all over the mainland, Washington State & sometimes even farther to Transfer Beach in Ladysmith, BC.

Ahoy mateys! For one magical day young & old alike gather together at Maffeo Sutton Park to enjoy one of Nanaimo's Premiere events: the Silly Boat Regatta. The event includes boat building, free fun family activities, face painting, crafts, games, a sports zone, music, Coast Capital Savings Wally's World, a children's regatta & of course, the main grand championship regatta.

This spectacular day full of fun, camaraderie & of course, silly antics is a fundraiser for the Nanaimo Child Development Centre.
