Merritt hosts a number of festivals throughout the year celebrating the area's western culture and history, love of country music, ranching heritage, artists and artisans, and seasonal events.
Rodeos take place in the Nicola Valley throughout the year – not surprising considering the number of ranches in the area. The biggest rodeo weekend, Rodeo Fair Days and the Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo, takes place over the Labor Day weekend. This weekend also features the Nicola Valley Fall Fair.
The High School Rodeo, at the end of May, and the Little Britches Rodeo, on the first weekend in June, showcase the ranching skills of Merritt's youth.
The Ranch Rodeo in July features the talents of the local ranchers, and the XK Rodeo in September is First Nations focused.
