Merritt's restaurants specialize in casual fare and relaxing atmospheres – jeans are the standard dress code at most places. As well, many hotels and motels feature attached restaurants.
Casual Fare
For a taste of western hospitality and character, try the Hitch'n Post Restaurant, five minutes from downtown along Highway 8 in Lower Nicola. The Grand Pub (2099 Garcia St) features the expected pub offerings, plus live music. Middlesboro Neighborhood Pub (3701 DeWolf Way) on the outskirts of town, has an exceptionally varied menu.
Hotel Restaurants
The historic Coldwater Hotel (1901 Voght St), located downtown, has both a restaurant and a pub. Diners have been eating here for more than 100 years. The Corbett Lake Country Inn's restaurant, a 20-minute drive from downtown on Highway 5A/97C, is open to both guests and visitors. Chef Peter McVey's four-course meal menu changes daily. Reservations are necessary.
Ethnic Options
Pick up sushi at Garden Sushi Restaurant (2701 Nicola) and Sushiyama Restaurant (3581 Voght St), or Chinese food at Crystal Gardens (2226 Nicola) and the Golden Palace (1953 Nicola St).
