The McBride area has three camping recreation sites: The Beaver River Recreation Site (5km/3.1mi east of McBride on Highway 16) has eight-10 campsites, an outhouse, firewood, and garbage pickup during the summer. In the fall, salmon spawn in a side channel of the Beaver River along Holmes Forest Service Road. Take a dip on warm summer days at LaSalle Lakes Recreation Site (40km/25mi west of McBride on a side road). This site has 20 campsites with pit toilets, bear proof garbage containers, and a small beach with a swimming area. LaSalle Lake is stocked with trout. The McBride Peak Half-way Hut is a more rustic site challenging to access. Locals recommend four-wheel drives without trailers, as the access road is steep and windy.
Explore McBride area backcountry hiking and camping at West Twin Provincial Park and Protected Area. Visitors also have the option to reserve a cabin near West Dore River Road via the Ozalenka Alpine Club.
