Tenting and RV opportunities in Mackenzie vary from rustic to developed sites with amenities.
Campers planning to hike, boat or fish have ample opportunities at locations in and around Mackenzie. This is the north, so be prepared with bug spray for biting bugs, especially around wetlands, lakes and rivers.
The Mackenzie Municipal RV Park is the closest to town for RVs, located at 10 Cicada Road. The RV Park features 36 sites, with a sani-station, showers and flush toilets.
Camping at Williston Lake
The Mackenzie Landing on Williston Lake has a tent camping area. There are also a number of Forest Recreation sites near Mackenzie that have tent camping. There is one site at Gataitga Lake, a 10-minute drive 13km/8mi) south of Mackenzie on highway 39, or 16km/10mi north on Highway 39 from Mackenzie Junction. Visitors will need to check with the Mackenzie Chamber of Commerce, as well as to secure a Mackenzie Forest Area Recreation Road Map to navigate to these less known sites. Provincial Parks Near Mackenzie
Heather-Dina Lakes Provincial Park, located 25km/15.5mi north of Mackenzie, has camping available. Amenities include campfires, a day use picnic area, and outhouses. Heather Lake has a large grassy area suitable for group camping, while Dina Lake #1 has five graveled pad sites which can accommodate a small to medium sized motorhome. Water is not available at these sites, so campers should come supplied.
Tudyah Lake Provincial Park is located 37km/23mi from Mackenzie, near Mackenzie Junction on Highway 97. The park features a 36-site campground at Tudyah Lake that is open from May 15th to September 30th depending on the weather. Visitors must pay the provincial campsite fees, which are available on the BC Parks website. Amenities include vehicle accessible campsites, fire pits, outhouses, and a boat launch. Fishing and boating are available at Tudyah Lake and the nearby Parsnip River.
Azouzetta Lake, 67km/42mi north of Mackenzie on Highway 97, has a privately run campground at the north end along Highway 97. Amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, outhouses and a boat launch.
