Lumby is located on Highway 6, which runs east from Vernon, through Lumby and the Monashee Mountains into the hot springs country and Arrow Lakes district of the West Kootenay.
Car Travel and Rentals
Lumby's village centre is compact and pedestrian-friendly with shopping district, restaurants, heritage and cultural attractions and centrally-located green space. However, car travel is required to get to the main attraction in this region – outdoor recreation at nearby lakes and in the mountains.
Winter tires or chains are a requirement on some roads from October 1 to April 30. Road conditions at higher elevations can be treacherous even when excellent in the valley. Four-wheel or all-wheel-drive vehicles are best suited for rugged backcountry travel.
Rental cars are available in nearby Vernon (26km/16mi west) and at the Kelowna International Airport (65km/40mi southwest).
