Logan Lake's close proximity to several other Thompson Okanagan communities means plenty of golfing opportunity.
Spend a day at Sagebrush Golf and Sporting Club and Merritt Golf and Country Club in Merritt, or Quilchena Golf Course along Highway 5A. Meadow Creek Golf Club in Logan Lake also offers duffers and skilled players alike a good challenge.
Just a few hundred metres/feet from the Logan Lake Municipal Campground, Meadow Creek Golf Club is built on rolling forested hills just east of downtown. If playing both nines, the course runs 5655m/6184yd with elevation changes and greens on multiple levels. Miss the right level on an approach shot – especially the par-5 – and scores mount quickly.
On most holes shots are either upslope, down slope, across a gully, or over water hazards. The opening hole provides a hint of what to expect. The tee box is elevated so that the opening drive is a blind shot over the crest of the hill to a flat fairway with a short approach to the green. Two water hazards come into play on the sixth and seventh holes, the greens are fast, and most are tiered. Club and cart rentals are available.
Sagebrush Golf and Sporting Club
Former PGA touring profession, Dick Zokol, is one of the owners and designers of Sagebrush Golf and Sporting Club and is on the course almost every day. Located in hills above the Quilchena Hotel, 20km/12.5mi north of Merritt on Highway 5A, this minimalist links-style course combines spectacular views from every fairway and tee boxes without markers. The course requires a style of playing unfamiliar to the average duffer.
Merritt Golf and Country Club
Located about 20 minutes from Logan Lake, Merritt Golf and Country Club is a 5669m/6200yd course, which plays longer than it looks. With two sets of tees distinguishing the back nine and front nine, players have to navigate the Nicola River that comes into play 12 times in total. A new clubhouse has a restaurant and pro shop. Rental carts and clubs are available.
Quilchena Golf Course and RV Park
Quilchena Golf Course and RV Park is family-style flat layout, which extends westward from the historic Quilchena Hotel and the RV park. The forward tees are 2081m/2776yd, and back tees are 2762m/3021yd. While the course is flat, trees present a hazard to the wayward shot. It's a course designed to make golf a family affair. Carts are available, but it's an easily walked course.
