The Victoria Day weekend has been celebrated in Kaslo with a three day festival for 120 years. The highlight of this celebration is the annual May Pole Dance performed by the 1st graders of Kaslo. Kaslo is home to the longest consecutive annual Maypole Dance in North America. Logger Sports Competition, Sk8Park Demonstration, Show N Shine Antique Car Show, horse show and Slo-Pitch ball tournament. Artists, craftsmen, musicians and performers are featured in Vimy Park throughout the weekend. The annual May Days Parade on Monday tops off the celebration.

Castlegar Sunfest is held annually on the first weekend of June and the goal of the organizing committee is to stage events and provide entertainment suitable for people of all ages. The weekend begins with a fundraising BBQ on Friday at noon. The Festival in the Park opens in Kinsman Park, on hand are dozens of food and merchandise vendors and a variety of activities and entertainment to keep everyone in a great mood. The Miss Castlegar Pagean also takes place on Friday evening in the Stanley Humphries Secondary School theatre.
