Join in celebrating Canada Day this July 1st in Fernie! Following is what took place in 2012: events for the whole family, such as the Bike & Pet parade, face painting, petting zoo, Mountain Market, entertainment stage with live music, refreshment garden, Bouncy Houses, Treasure Hunt, Fireworks. Peak season commences July 1 for Fort Steele and they're planning a big kick-off party. Celebrations begin with the Kimberley Community Band. There will be birthday cake, family games, wagon & steam train rides, heritage trades, living history street dramas and the first public performance of this year's live theatre show 'Gabardine & Galoshes' at the Wild Horse Theatre round out the afternoon.

Canada Day; the day will commence with a pancake breakfast followed by the official opening ceremonies including the raising of the flag, cutting of the cake & official speeches. Activities include face painting, games & races.

The Heritage Explorers is an event which is held at the Revelstoke Museum and Archives every Tuesday & Thursday in July and August. It's a kids' educational program. Each week has a theme which involves doing crafts and activaties learning about the history of Revelstoke and area. For example, one week the theme is Butter and Biscuits which is an annual theme and involves the kids making butter.
