One of Canada's longest running winter carnivals, the 117th winter carnival again will have a winter beer garden and entertainment stage in the downtown core of Rossland, BC. Renowned for homemade bob-sled races, a snowboarding competition and live music over the span of a weekend, the winter carnival is a great way to enjoy what a skiing community has to offer.

People who listen to CBC Radio are familiar with the voice of Tom Allen. His programs are always filled with interesting facts about the selection, the composer, or our times. Not too many know he is an accomplished musician. With his musical friends - all stars in their own right - Tom Allen has created The Judgement of Paris, a mix of cabaret, history and story-telling with timeless music by Debussy and Ravel, as well as original songs by the performers. It is new and old, heroic and tragic, history and fiction - and may the best composer win.

For hockey fanatics, it's hard to imagine it getting any better than this. Invermere has been named the host city for this sanctioned qualifier BC Eastern Regional Pond Hockey Championships. Outdoor rinks, on either Lake Windermere or Lake Lillian, are approximately 75' x 150', nets are 6' wide and 10" tall and side boards are made of snow. It's 4-on-4 hockey with no goalies; teams can have up to 6 players.

Saturday is classic technique and Sunday is skate technique. There are lots of age categories for all events.

There are distances for all ages and abilities and awards will be presented to the top skiers in each category on both days. There are lots of draw prizes to be had. Top male & female will be awarded a special prize for the two day total time.
