The Kootenay Rockies' natural splendours provide endless opportunities for outdoor adventure.
In the summer you can backpack, hike, cycle, climb, camp and golf. Pristine lakes and rivers are ideal for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, boating, fishing, windsurfing, water-skiing, and whitewater rafting. In winter, go skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing, or backcountry skiing. There are also four national parks to explore, along with many provincial parks.
The area has a number of natural mineral-rich hot springs, both developed and undeveloped. The Kootenay Rockies is home to abundant wildlife in locations such as the Columbia Wetlands, a birder's paradise.
