Kimberley is surrounded by impressive mountain scenery, vast wilderness, and a variety of nearby provincial parks.

Local favourites include Premier Lake Provincial Park, Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park, Wasa Lake Provincial Park and St. Mary’s Alpine Provincial Park. This area is part of the Crown of the Continent Region, a geotourism partnership created to sustain geographic character and heritage.

Kimberley also has a number of impressive local, municipal parks, including Kimberley Nature Park (one of Canada’s largest municipal parks), Marysville Falls and Eco Park.

Premier Lake Provincial Park

Premier Lake Provincial Park is a popular recreational area with a scenic campground, emerald waters, a beach and exceptional trout fishing (with a license). Find Premier Lake off Highway 93/95, just north of Skookumchuk. Turn east at the Provincial Park sign and follow the road 15km/9mi to the lake. A small road at the entrance to the Premier Lake campground goes into Quartz Lake. Quartz Lake is a day use area and offers good fishing.

An area of great beauty, the park is part of the Top of the World Plateau, most of which is at an elevation in excess of 2,200 m. Although remote, the park is popular with hikers & backcountry campers. Also a good location for fishing & cross-country skiing.
