Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is a ten-minute drive from the town of Golden, across the Columbia River, and up the side of the valley.
Car Travel
From Vancouver 713km/443mi to the west, Golden is a long one-day or more comfortable two-day drive on Highway 1, the Trans-Canada Highway. Calgary is 262km/163mi east of Golden – a journey that, with good highway conditions, should take no more than two and half hours.
Highway 95 intersects with the Trans-Canada Highway in Golden, heading south to the Kootenay Rockies communities of Radium Hot Springs (105km/65mi) and Cranbrook (284km/154mi), and connecting with US Highway 95 at the Canada/US border.

Cars and trucks can be rented locally from the National Car Rental agency in Golden, on 11th Avenue North.
Winter tires or chains are essential for winter driving in these mountains. Avalanches can cause road closures in the Rogers Pass area. Carry food and extra warm clothing when travelling in winter.
Air Travel
Scheduled air service is through Calgary International and the Canadian Rockies International Airport in Cranbrook. Both airports are approximately three hours drive from Golden, and both offer car rentals.
Golden has a small airport that is used primarily by private and charter aircraft.
Public Transportation
Greyhound Canada operates four buses per day to destinations east and west along the Trans-Canada Highway, and a daily service on Highway 95 to Radium and points south.
A shuttle service from Calgary Airport to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is provided by Pure Travel Group. Reservations are required.
BC Transit operates a scheduled bus service that serves Golden and some rural areas. A shuttle bus to the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is operated by Mount 7 Taxi, calling at all major hotels in Golden. Conventional taxi services are also available.
