Kaslo's expansive and pristine wilderness provides incredible terrain for backcountry skiing.
Kaslo has two local operators that offer both guided and self-guided backcountry ski packages with accommodation.
KMH Backcountry Skiing
A KMH Backcountry Skiing adventure begins at the Kaslo Airport. A short helicopter ride transports guests to Mount Carlyle Lodge, situated at 2,200m/7,200ft in the Selkirk Range.
The terrain around the lodge offers more subdued rides, excellent tree skiing, and steep freeride descents. Both guided and self-guided backcountry tours are available, including the "Carlyle Classic" – a one-day tour of Mount Carlyle involving five high mountain passes and cols.
Backcountry ski packages for groups of eight to 10 skiers range from basic lodge rentals (self-guided/self-catered) to fully guided and catered trips. All packages include round-trip helicopter transportation.
