Other golf options include Sun Rivers and Eagle Point Golf and Country Club.
South of Kamloops along Highway 1 and about 20 minutes away from downtown is Tobiano, one of British Columbia's premier courses. Set along rolling bluffs and canyon-cut ravines overlooking dramatic Kamloops Lake, this Thomas McBroom designed course was named Canada's best new course in 2008 by numerous golf publications including Golf Digest.
Bring a camera for the 14th, 15th, and 16th holes that overlook Kamloops Lake. In addition to an amazing course, Tobiano features an extensive driving range and practice facilities, clubhouse, indoor/outdoor dining lounge, and pro-shop. Book in advance or on day-of-play.
Talking Rock Golf Course
Talking Rock Golf Course at Quaaout Resort, 30 minutes east of the city on Highway 1, is a 121ha/300ac meandering forested course leading to an incredible 18th fairway along the shoreline of Little Shuswap Lake. The local First Nations’ band named it in recognition of their ancestors who often recorded historic events and legends by painting or carving on large rocks, know as pictographs. Ranging between 4148m/5437yd and 7129m/6519yd, Talking Rock is a walker's course with holes that rise dramatically from fairway to green. A 7.2ha/18ac driving range, clubhouse, and full dining facilities are also available at the course. However, there are no equipment rentals.
Rivershore Golf Links
On the north shore of the South Thompson River and 20 minutes east from downtown, Rivershore Golf Links has long been considered one of the finest tests of golf in Canada. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., each hole of the course's 4983-6407m/5450-7007yd, layout is carved from the rolling landscape, and features 97 sand traps and a long rough, both challenging for players of every skill level. Equipment and cart rentals are available.
Kamloops Golf & Country Club
Kamloops Golf & Country Club, located next to Kamloops International Airport, is a traditional-styled course with a "local club" atmosphere. The course offers a driving range and practice green, clubhouse, pro-shop, and equipment rentals.
The Dunes
The Dunes, a Graham Cooke designed course, maintains a sense of privacy similar to links courses in Ireland. Wild fescue and wheat grass stand guard along the fairways giving way to dunes that transform into strategically placed and challenging bunkers. Equipment rentals and a practice facility with target greens, bunkers, chipping, and putting greens are also features of The Dunes.
Stop by the Kamloops Visitor Centre for more information about golf courses in the area and equipment rentals.
