While most visitors arrive in Invermere in their own car, recreational vehicle or motorcycle, there are other options for transportation and getting around town.
However, a vehicle is necessary for adventuring out on the Great Circle Route or Hot Springs Circle Route.
Car Travel
By road, Invermere is 832km/517mi from the coast. From Vancouver, take Highways 1 and 5 to Golden, and then follow Highway 95 through the Columbia Wetlands.
The closest large city, Calgary, Alberta, is 275km to the east. From Calgary, follow the Trans-Canada Highway through Banff, turn at Castle Mountain Junction onto Highway 93, and drive through Kootenay National Park to Radium Hot Springs and the Windermere Valley.
Highway 93/95 follows the Rocky Mountain Trench to the south, but splits near Wasa. Highway 95 heads to Cranbrook (132km82mi) and the US border at Eastport ID, (212km/132mi), while 93 makes the US border at Roosville MT (215km/134mi).

Winter tires or chains are essential for winter driving in this area. Avalanches can cause road closures in any of the mountain passes. Carry food and extra warm clothing when travelling in winter.
Note that the narrow, winding road that follows Toby Creek up to Panorama Mountain Village resort should be approached with caution at any time of year.
Air Travel
Scheduled air service is through Calgary International (3.5hrs) and the Canadian Rockies International Airport in Cranbrook (1.5hrs). Both airports offer car rentals.
Invermere has a small airport that is used primarily by private and charter aircraft.
Public Transportation
Greyhound Canada operates a bus service between Cranbrook and Calgary, Alberta, with one bus per day in each direction. Silver City Stage Lines provides daily service between Cranbrook and Golden.
BC Transit operates a bus service linking Canal Flats, Invermere, Radium Hot Springs and Edgewater. Taxi service is available in Invermere.
