It would be tempting to conclude that Invermere locals are absolutely spoiled when it comes to skiing and snowboarding – and likely other things too. After all, how many people can choose between two ski hills, both of which are within a 30-minute drive? Panorama Mountain Village and Fairmont Hot Springs Ski Area are the closest places to ski or snowboard from Invermere.

Panorama Mountain Village

Panorama Mountain Village Resort gets an annual dump of 479cm/188in of the white stuff, and if that's not enough, they can make snow too.

Lifts operate right out of the village, carrying skiers and boarders 1,220m/4,000ft to the top of the mountain. Below this dizzying elevation of 2,375m/7,800ft, the resort maintains an amazing 120 trails and bowls, and two terrain parks. Only 20 per cent of the mountain is suitable for beginners, with 55 per cent for intermediate/advanced skiers and boarders, and 25 per cent for experts.
