Whether relaxing on a warm summer day along the Peace River, or breathing in fresh Rocky Mountain air at Carbon Lake, the natural surroundings of Hudson's Hope are bound to make a fishing experience here worthwhile.
Peace River
Fly-fish from the banks the Peace River, or cast a line from a boat. Catch a variety of fish, including Arctic grayling, mountain whitefish, yellow walleye, burbot, bull trout, rainbow trout, kokanee, and northern pike. Easy access to fishing spots near Hudson's Hope are found at Alwin Holland Regional Park and at the public boat launch area next to Lynx Creek RV and Campground. The Halfway River is a tributary to the Peace River.
Carbon Lake and Carbon Creek
Seek out a mountain wilderness fishing experience at Carbon Lake, in the Rocky Mountains. Things to know: Carbon Lake has a rough entrance that may require four-wheel drive to enter, there is a motorized boat restriction to a maximum 10hp engine, and fishing is permitted from May to October only.

Carbon Creek, visible from the road, is a five-to-10-minute drive past Carbon Lake. Take the right fork and park at the bridge. This pretty little mountain creek is a tributary to Williston Lake. Fish species include, Arctic grayling, mountain whitefish, Dolly Varden, and rainbow trout.
Dinosaur Lake
Combine fishing and camping at Dinosaur Lake. Dinosaur Lake, the Peace Canyon Dam reservoir, is just south of Hudson's Hope along Highway 29, on the right hand side. The best place to fish from shore is next to the boat launch. There are a number of fish to catch here, including bull trout, rainbow trout, kokanee, burbot, lake trout, mountain whitefish and lake whitefish.
Williston Lake
Try for huge fish at Williston Lake. Catches can include bull trout, rainbow Trout, Rocky Mountain whitefish, and lake whitefish. Winter ice fishing is also popular on Williston Lake, but be cautious of a variety of hazards including broken ice and open water. Guided fishing tours are available from Williston Lake and Torwood Resorts.
Check with the Hudson's Hope Visitor Centre for more information about fishing in the area. Note that anglers 16-years-old and over, resident and non-resident, require a license to fish. Licenses are available on the BC government website.
