Dining
Many Hornby Island visitors arrive with their own coolers packed with food ready for picnic spreads or campground barbeques.
The Hornby Island Co-Op has al fresco provisions, while a handful of popular eateries provide sit-down and takeaway service. Most restaurants here are open daily in the summer and are either closed or maintain weekend hours the rest of the year.
Ringside Market
This charmingly eclectic marketplace features a collection of brightly coloured shops and stands anchored by the Hornby Island Co-Op. Find it at the junction of Central and Shields roads near Tribune Bay. Jan's Café (May to October) delivers burgers, sandwiches and breakfast platters. VOR1Z0 Espresso Bar serves up steaming barista drinks from its takeaway caravan along with a homemade menu highlighted by burritos and Pad Thai.

Hornby Island Co-Op
The co-op has been the hub of island life since 1955 and reflects Hornby's spirit, character, and community spirit. Local food producers include Hornby Island Seafood (known for its fresh, smoked, and candied salmon), Cardboard House Bakery and Hornby Island Pâté (with its remarkably tasty line of vegetarian, non-dairy spreads).
Cardboard House
The aroma of fresh bread and the delight of lingering in a garden picnic area makes the Cardboard House a foodie mecca. Indulge in a sweet bun or slice of blueberry sour cream pie from the bakery. The Carefree Café serves barista drinks. And Pizza Galore has plenty of inventive choices (i.e., the salmon-laden Smoky Nemo and pesto-based Chicken Little). Enjoy live music in the orchard on summer evenings.
The Thatch Pub
Steps from the ferry dock, The Thatch Pub is the island's one waterfront watering hole. Expect good beer, filling pub grub, and lively conversation indoors or on the patio. Friday nights jump with live jazz. Next door in the same building is the Wheelhouse Restaurant, a casual sit-down spot with quick takeaway service for those catching the next ferry.
The Breeze
The Breeze at the Sea Breeze Lodge (Fowler Road just past the "big tree" intersection) is open for dinner from May to October. Evening themed meals include salmon, Italian, Mexican, Greek , and curry buffets. A child-friendly family menu is also served. Open weekends in the spring and fall, and daily in the summer.
Ford's Cove
The general store at the marina is open year-round. Pick up fresh baked goods in the mornings and order a pizza in the evening.
