Events for the weekend include a pancake breakfast, laying of wreaths at Ginger Goodwin gravesite, cemetery tour, refreshments, pub crawl, dinner & entertainment. A full schedule will be available closer to the date. The purpose of Miner's Memorial Weekend is to: renew the commitment to strive for safe & healthy workplaces for all workers, commemorate the miners who worked & lost their lives in the mines of Cumberland & other workplaces throughout BC, commemorate the life & contribution of Ginger Goodwin, union organizer & labour martyr.

National Aboriginal Day 2013 will be one of our largest celebrations. Bring the whole family to K'ómoks village to enjoy a fun-filled day. Join the Courtenay Museum as they take you on a guided fossil tour along the banks of the Puntledge River. Our friendly guide will begin at the Courtenay & District Museum & Palaeontology Centre with a short lecture & video, followed by visit to the exhibit gallery & concluding with a hands-on trip to the actual fossil sites. Pre-bookings needed for the Fossil Tours. You will require your own transportation to the fossil site. Please check our website for more information.
