Dining
Since Hope is at the crossroads of so many trips, it's a natural stopping place to fuel up and take a break.
Dairy Queen, McDonald's and Tim Hortons might satiate urgent munchies, but many of the family-run diners here have proven staying power and are venues where local hospitality is at its best.
Cafés and Picnics
Blue Moose Coffee House
There are a number of independent coffee houses, local faves being Blue Moose Coffee House (322 Wallace St), a cozily lit, unpretentious lounge of tables and deep-seated sofas. Muffins, javas, soups and salads are all good. There's internet access here, also.
Owl Street Café
The Owl Street Café (19855 Owl St) is away from the downtown core and a destination hang-out.

Campers chow down on home-made soup and sandwiches while doing their laundry – there are coin-op machines nearby, while others enjoy an organic espresso on the pretty patio. The log building is made with pine beetle kill from Manning Park and everything else, down to the salt and pepper shakers, is owlish in theme.
Lunch to Go
Call ahead for picnic supplies and fishing hampers from Dutchie's Bakery (821 6th Ave, 604-869-9886) and Sharon's Deli & Lunch Bar (340A Wallace St, 604-869-3354).
Comfort Foods
Count on a line up at Home Restaurant (665 Old Hope-Princeton Hwy) which has been a Hope mainstay since 1953 and is the original of five locations in BC. There's nothing fancy about the home style cooking save for the massive portions and their trade mark dessert pies. Hope Drive In & Restaurant (590 Hope-Princeton Way) is another iconic good-food diner that's been in the same family for more than 50 years. Don't leave without trying one of their '50s style shakes or ice-cream sundaes.
Casual Dining
Casual in Hope means easy atmosphere and quality dining as in orange butter salmon and coconut pineapple chicken at The Driftwynd Bistro & Dining Room (575 Old Hope Princeton Way), or try the crepes, a popular favourite, at Rolly's Family Restaurant (888 Fraser Ave) downtown.
Ethnic Eateries
Papandreas Greek Taverna
Papandreas Greek Taverna (904 Old Hope-Princeton Way) is a destination family-run restaurant known as much for its authentic Greek food and steaks as for its pizza and pasta. This location is open for dinner.
Asian Restaurants
Hope's larger than average Korean-Japanese population has translated into some excellent Asian restaurants, most notably the tiny, 25-seat Kibo Sushi (267 King St), and Kimchi (821 6th Ave) for its authentic, and extensive, menu.
