Beaches & Swimming

Harrison Lake has always been a popular family destination and its sandy southern shoreline is what gives the village its holiday resort atmosphere year round.
In summer, however, Harrison Hot Springs' population swells six-fold to up to 10,000 with seasonal residents, day-trippers and holidaymakers. Some come for the hot springs; others for the golf, fishing or fresh farm produce. But whatever the draw, a stroll along the beachside promenade is nearly always on the list.
Harrison Beach
As the focal point of Harrison Hot Springs Village, this long stretch of sandy beach gets increasingly busy as the temperature starts to climb. By the height of summer, the beach thrives with sun-fun activity from swimming and building sand castles, kite-flying and an array of water-sports.
On summer weekends, the Muddy Waters Café sponsors live musical entertainment on the east side of the beach and from mid July to Labour Day, local talents showcase their music, poetry and dance at Pioneer Plaza.

Sasquatch Provincial Park
Head for Hicks Lake and Deer Lake for the Sasquatch Provincial Park's best swimming. The water is relatively warm in summer and both have sandy beaches as well as picnic tables. Deer Lake also has a playground right on the beach. Canoe and kayak rentals are available and since both lakes allow car top boats with electric motors, swim areas are marked off with buoys. Neither lake has a lifeguard on duty. Note that park regulations require all dogs be kept on a leash, however, there is an off-leash doggie beach at Rendall Park in Harrison.
For more information on beaches and swimming, head to the Harrison Hot Springs Visitor Centre for advice and maps.
