Particularly between April and October, a wide variety of festivals and events spice up the visitor experience in Gibsons.
Whether it's live music, fibre arts, or farmers markets, there's an event to suit virtually every taste.
Music and Visual Arts Festivals
The annual Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival (June) attracts crowds with award-winning artists as diverse as Sibel Thrasher, Michael Occhipinti, and the Amanda Tosoff Quartet. In addition to the headliners, many concerts are held free or by donation at local restaurants and funky coffeehouses. The ongoing Music in the Landing series (June-September) brings free live concerts and buskers to Winegarden Waterfront Park, Pioneer Square, Holland Park, and other venues near the Gibsons harbour.
Gibsons also co-hosts the Sunshine Coast Festival of the Performing Arts (April-May), showcasing everything from folk ditties to classical numbers at the Heritage Playhouse (662 North Rd.).

For those who enjoy knitting, quilting, and weaving, the Gibsons Landing Fibre Arts Festival (August) is a great fit. Check out the juried artisan market, children's craft tent, street performers, and various workshops during this festival, which attracts artists and teachers from across Canada.
Sea Festivals and Local Farms
In July, calendar highlights abound. Don't miss the Canada Day (July 1) celebrations in Winegarden Park with live entertainment, a BBQ, and birthday cake. For sea lovers, there's the multi-day Sea Cavalcade Festival, which features loggers sports, fireworks, a parade, and more, and the famous Howe Sound Outrigger canoe race.
A truly quirky event is the one-day Gibsons Landing Salmon Festival (September), which involves local artists painting plywood salmon in an array of psychedelic hues. These fish are displayed and auctioned off, and proceeds support the Gibsons Landing Business Association.
Farmers markets are popular among consumers with a taste for organic produce. Visit the Gibsons Landing Sunday Market (May to September in Holland Park) or the Fiddlehead Farmers Market (on Saturdays from June to October behind the curling rink).
