Dining
Galiano Island's small but wide-ranging selection of eateries serves all tastes and budgets.
Foodies take note: A pair of upscale foodie havens with excellent reputations. Tasty take-out from a trio of mobile kitchens. A lively neighborhood pub. Wood-fired pizza served on a seaside patio. And superb breakfasts and lunches delivered quick and good at several spots near the ferry dock.
Foodie Havens
Set back in a forested country property, La Bérengerie (2806 Montague Rd) is a 10-minute walk from the Montague Harbour Marina. Owner/chef Hugette Benger was raised in Provence and is renowned for her artistry with all things fresh and local on her prix-fixe menu – salmon, duck breast, and berry pies included.
Fine regional cuisine and an elegant atmosphere are the hallmarks of the Galiano Inn's swank oceanfront "eat@galianoinn" Restaurant. Dine indoors year-round, relax in the lounge or enjoy gourmet pizza on the oceanside terrace during the summer.

Casual Fare
Substantial platters of fried goodness plus a pool table, live music and plenty of spirited conversation are the norm at the Hummingbird Pub. Last call is late in the evening and a bus provides service to and from Montague Harbour's park and marina. Families with underage kids can order from garden-area picnic tables.
Just down the street in the village is the Grand Central Grill, an all-day diner in the heritage building that was once the island's first general store. Its extensive menu of burger specials includes the Bigass Burrill, named after the brothers who ran the store early in the 20th century.
Last chance to dine when heading north on Galiano is at the Montague Harbour Marina's waterfront Harbor Grill Restaurant. Or stock up for a picnic near the ferry terminal at Galiano Garage (open late), or at the Daystar Market (top spot for local produce) on Georgeson Road near the Hummingbird.
Bakery and Burgers
Sturdies Bay Bakery Café begins jumping in the early morning as the staff gets busy with barista drinks and specialties like the feta, spinach and egg-stuffed croissant. Sandwiches and wraps highlight the lunch menu. Next door is the Scoops Burger Bar, a favorite summertime ice cream palace.
Takeout
Get it fresh, hot and to go at the Galiano Garage and Max & Moritz Spicy Island Food House. Find the latter (a local culinary legend) in a red trailer at the Sturdies Bay ferry terminal. Its owners have assembled a unique globetrotting menu topped by Nasi Goreng and Berlin currywurst.
