Fort St. John has a good selection of dining out options suited to various tastes and budgets.

Fine dining is available at Uptown Grill, while deli and casual fare is found at several coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs, including Jackfish Dundees' Pub, which has a great patio overlooking Charlie Lake. Also, Ship-to-Shore serves a mean fish n' chips. Ethnic options include Japanese and Chinese food, and the usual selection of fast food establishments are found throughout town.

Local Fort St. John coffee shops, Cosmic Grounds (10430-100 St) and CJ's on Main (9905-100 Ave), offer a relaxed environments, where patrons can, in addition to hot beverages, enjoy typical deli fare. Whole Wheat and Honey (10003-100 St) coffee shop sometimes features live musicians for a cover fee during the evenings. There are also two chain coffee shops in Fort St. John.
