Fort St. James National Historic Site

Fort St. James National Historic Site is one of the first permanent fur trading posts established west of the Rocky Mountains. Constructed in 1806, the fort became a Hudson Bay Company post in 1827, and ceased operations in 1952. During its years of business, the fort served as a centre for the northern fur traders. It is now the largest group of original wood buildings that represent the fur trade in Canada.
