Highway 4, the Pacific Rim Highway from Port Alberni to the Tofino-Ucluelet junction, is narrow, winding, mountainous and breath-stealing - sightseeing opportunities are countless. Deer and bears are not shy about roadsides. Bald eagles soar overhead. Check driving times to Ucluelet, then add extra.
Sea TravelSail from Port Alberni to Ucluelet through the Broken Islands aboard the historic M.V. Lady Rose or the M.V. Frances Barkley and explore Ukee. Sailings are from June 1 to Sept 18 on Mon, Weds and Fri, with Alberni departures at 8am arriving in Ucluelet at 12.30pm. Return trips from Ucluelet to Alberni go at 2pm.
Those arriving by private boat will find a small-craft harbour, marine facilities and a Canada Customs Clearance Centre.
Bus Travel and Public TransportationThe Tofino Bus Island Express is a scheduled service providing daily transportation to Ucluelet from Parksville, Port Alberni, Nanaimo, Vancouver and Victoria. Charter bus services are also available. In summer, the bus runs between Tofino and Ucluelet with stops in the Pacific Rim National Park. Greyhound Bus Lines also makes scheduled trips to Ucluelet.
Transport RentalsUcluelet offers a variety of transportation options. Rental cars are available from Budget Car Rental, located near the airport on the Pacific Rim Highway. Other options range from rental limos and water taxis to bicycles and skateboards, but nothing beats walking in this part of the world.
Air Travel The Tofino-Ucluelet Airport, also known as the Long Beach airport (YAZ) is located about half way between Tofino and Ucluelet. Connections can be made from Comox, Nanaimo, Victoria, Vancouver and Seattle with Tofino Air, Orca Airways and Kenmore Air.
