Tumbler Ridge Transportation & Maps

Main access to visit Tumbler Ridge is via highway routes from Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John.  The main routes entering Tumbler Ridge are Highway 52 and Highway 29. While Tumbler Ridge is most easily accessed by car, several options are available for getting around town. Enjoy walking about town along an excellent set of trails. Tumbler Ridge also offers taxi service, and tour options include helicopters and motorboats. 

Car Travel

Drive to Tumbler Ridge along windy roads, through gently rolling valleys, past ridges, wetlands and forested areas. Travelers coming from southern British Columbia through Chetwynd will head southeast to Tumbler Ridge (94km/58 mi) on Highway 29, passing over the Pine River and winding along the Sukunka River Valley past Gwillim Lake Provincial Park. Vehicle rentals are not available in town, but are found in surrounding communities.  

From Dawson Creek drive along Highway 97 to Arras and turn off on Highway 52, which winds through some beautiful country cresting a high point with a dramatic view of the Rocky Mountains before winding down into Tumbler Ridge (194km/121mi).  From Fort St. John, enjoy a scenic drive to Tumbler Ridge (247 km/153mi), heading south along the Alaska Highway, through Taylor in the Peace River Valley.  Connect to Highway 97 and Highway 52 by taking the shortcut right turn just past the Farmington gas station.

Public Transportation

While there is no public transportation directly to Tumbler Ridge, Greyhound Bus does stop in the nearby communities of Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Prince George, and Grand Prairie, Alberta.

Air Travel

Regional airports are also located in Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Prince George and Grande Prairie, Alberta.  Air service includes Central Mountain Air and Air Canada.
