Like most large, coastal cities, Vancouver has a well-developed and frequently-used ferry system.
There are many ways to get around Vancouver on the water. Passenger ferries and water taxis operate in Burrard Inlet and False Creek seven days a week. It takes just 12 minutes by SeaBus to sail between the North Shore and downtown Vancouver. Private water taxi companies take even less time to hop between points along False Creek.
Passenger/vehicle ferries sail between Vancouver and many other coastal cities and towns every day. Ferry trips around BC are safe, comfortable and exceptionally scenic. Whales, seals, porpoises, sea lions and marine birds are common sights in BC waters. If you're driving to a ferry terminal during peak hours, be sure to give yourself some extra time to get through traffic. Avoid lengthy weekend and holiday line-ups by making an advance reservation.
