Discovery Coast Passage Between mid June and early September, BC Ferries offers non-stop vehicle/passenger services through the Discovery Coast Passage between Port Hardy and Bella Coola. Certain sailings on this route connect with several remote coastal villages including McLoughlin Bay, Ocean Falls, Shearwater and Klemtu, which are only accessible by air or water. Non-stop service between Port Hardy and Bella Coola takes 13 hours, whereas the longer, alternate route takes 33 hours. The Bella Coola terminal is located just a couple of minutes from the community's downtown. Visitors can also spend a few days exploring the remote coastal islands and villages by arranging a more detailed ferry itinerary. Both northbound and southbound sailings are available. Reservations are required so book well in advance. > BC Ferries details This journey can also be done as part of the Coast Cariboo Circle Route.
