Bus services between the mainland and Victoria are available all year round.
Coaches make the ferry trip along with passengers, so there's no need to unload your luggage until you reach your final destination. On Vancouver Island, bus travel is concentrated mainly along the populous east coast. Highway 1 runs north from Victoria as far as Nanaimo; Highway 19 runs through central and northern communities; Highway 4 extends west through Port Alberni to Tofino and Ucluelet on the rugged and largely uninhabited west coast.
Several sightseeing tour operators offer fully narrated trips and vacation packages between Vancouver and Victoria via BC Ferries.
