Vancouver Island Air Travel

Flying is the quickest and most convenient way to get to Vancouver Island. Several airlines service Victoria International Airport, Nanaimo Airport and the cities/towns of Courtenay/Comox, Campbell River and Port Hardy.

Floatplanes are a popular mode of transportation between Vancouver Island and the mainland, largely due to their flexibility - you can access just about any coastal community directly with a floatplane. Scheduled flights and charters are available from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria and downtown Nanaimo.

Victoria International Airport

Victoria International Airport (YYJ) is located near Sidney, approximately 30 minutes north of downtown Victoria, off Highway 17.

Nanaimo Airport

Nanaimo Airport (YCD) is located approximately 20 minutes south of downtown Nanaimo, off of Highway 1.

Comox Valley Airport

Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) is located near Courtenay and Comox, 15 to 20 minutes off Highway 19.

Regional Airlines

Air Canada

Air Canada provides scheduled services to Victoria from Vancouver, Calgary (in Alberta) and Toronto (in Ontario). It also provides scheduled services from Vancouver to Nanaimo (approximately 2 hours north of Victoria).

WestJet provides scheduled services to Victoria from Kelowna and cities throughout Canada. It also provides scheduled services from Calgary and Edmonton (in Alberta) to Comox.

Pacific Coastal Airlines

Pacific Coastal Airlines provides scheduled services from Vancouver to Victoria, Campbell River, Comox and Port Hardy as well as flights between Port Hardy and Bella Bella and Klemtu. Charter flights are also available.
