Getting There
There are four ways into the Thompson Okanagan: plane, rail, bus or car. They all lead to the warm-water lakes, towering mountains, vineyards and orchards for which the region is justly famed, and which makes the Thompson Okanagan an extremely popular destination for swimming, boating, sunning, canoeing, camping, winery touring, hiking, cycling, golfing, fishing and during the winter, skiing and snowboarding.
One international and two local airports service the region, located in Kelowna, Kamloops and Penticton respectively. The iconic, national rail tour called "The Canadian" stops in Kamloops. Commercial bus lines run to nearly all cities and towns, while highways flow into the region from all directions.
Getting Around
The Thompson Okanagan is an interior region, so you'll do almost all of your travelling within it over land. If you have a valid driver's licence, you can rent a car and travel according to your own schedule and tastes. Nearly as flexible are the commercial bus lines, which offer services to just about every city and town in the region. Larger centres have modern and convenient public transport systems including low-floor buses and handyDART vehicles for the disabled.
