Car TravelIt takes about one hour to from downtown Vancouver or 75 minutes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to drive to Squamish. From Whistler to Squamish, it's about 45 minutes. Visitors coming up from the United States on the Interstate 5 can simply continue north, since that route turns into Highway 99 at the Canadian border. Rental cars are available at the airport and tere is one major car rental agency in Squamish (Budget Rent-A-Car), as well as a car dealership that offers rentals. Air and Ferry Travel Although no regular air service is offered between Vancouver and Squamish, private planes can land and take off at the small Squamish municipal airport. Several local tour companies also offer “flightseeing” tours that depart from that airport, or from the Squamish float plane dock. Travelers arriving from Vancouver Island can take BC Ferries to the ferry terminal at either Tsawwassen or Horseshoe Bay before heading north on the Sea-to-Sky Highway. It is also possible to charter a boat privately from Vancouver to Squamish, and Squamish Marine Services can arrange sightseeing cruises and water taxis. Buses and Public Transportation Pacific Coach Lines (PCL) offers multiple daily bus trips between Vancouver International Airport, Squamish and Whistler, both northbound and southbound. Greyhound Bus Canada covers those routes too, though less frequently.In addition, two limousine companies service the Sea-to-Sky Highway run. For public transit, the Squamish Transit System offers limited service with three bus routes. There is also a #98 bus that makes a few daily trips between Squamish and Whistler. Getting Around Squamish The easiest way to get around Squamish is by car. Biking on local trails and roads is another option. The small town centre is easy to walk around.
