Silver Star Mountain Resort is located 22km/13mi northeast of Vernon. Follow 48th Avenue to Silver Star Road and continue to the resort. The entire route is paved, but mountain roads can suffer from frost heaves and get rough.

Car Travel

The first section of the drive is through Vernon subdivisions. But most of the route involves hills, tight curves, switchbacks and steep drop-offs with few places to pass. Be patient, especially behind snow ploughs. Pay attention to posted speed signs on curves.

Winter Tires & Chains

Sections of the route are marked as deer crossings. Keep a careful lookout, particularly early in the morning and at dusk. Winter tires or chains are required on Silver Star Road from Tillicum Road to Silver Star Mountain Resort from October 1 to April 30. Driving through this area without the proper equipment, may lead to a fine.

The village centre at Silver Star is pedestrian-friendly with no vehicles permitted. Vehicles are restricted to designated parking lots for day visitors. Beyond the village centre, vehicles are permitted on residential streets.

Rental Cars

Rental cars are available at several locations in Vernon and at the Kelowna International Airport.

On-Mountain Shuttle

Silver Star runs a free shuttle with stops every half hour from 8am to 5pm (some exceptions). It stops at the Knoll, Adventure Park, Creekside and the Pinnacles.

Bus Travel

In winter, a shuttle service links Silver Star with Kelowna International Airport. Additional shuttles run between Silver Star and Vernon on weekends and holidays and between Silver Star and Big White Ski Resort select weekdays.

Air Travel

Kelowna International Airport is the primary gateway with multiple daily flights to and from Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton and Seattle plus regional airports. Carriers include Air Canada, Central Mountain Air, Horizon Air and Westjet. Charters are also available.

Maps

Resort maps, and winter and summer trail maps are available at the information desk in the Village Visitor Centre in winter and at Ski Dazzle in summer. The maps are also widely available at hotel front desks and public locations throughout the resort.
